I can identify I think with Michael Jackson just a little. All my childhood and most of my adulthood years I've felt somewhat uncomfortable letting emotions show. For instance, being "mushy" made me feel like something would grab me and have it's way with me and so I'd squirm out of that one every time. Now "bothered" that I could do pretty well, yet almost any other emotion caused me to retreat. Emotions like sorrow or joy, anger or extreme happiness, and even displays of deep concern caused me an uncomfortable exposure and vulnerability.
My safe zone? Writing. Isn't that curious, well not really; writing lets me say it from the heart and get away clean. Perhaps that accounts for Micheal's split personality. His offstage shy persona we all thought strange after seeing him...
People who can identify with us are like birds in a "CUCKOO" Clock; they let you know what time it is, then they vanish back into their box before anyone can focus on them. What would our friends, family and even we ourselves look like if on the count of three we all came out of our hiding places? What a different world this would be, for better or for worse ~ In My Very Own Opinion.

Literally exploded with life,
every time he touched the stage
every time he touched the stage

Well said. I'm encouraged to be and live authentically. Hiding... from who or what? Isn't it funny how no matter what we do there is always one who sees our every move we make, hears and knows our every thought. Surely, we have nothing to fear from Him. He's on our side. As for you and Michael, he lived his fantasy on stage...I certainly miss him; and you, I think you're just a closet extravert. (Smile)
